A Life in Christ

The beginning of a life in relationship with Jesus Christ is our acknowledgement that we need Him. The Bible states that "all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God." (Romans 3:23). Why is that? Because God is a holy God. He is a perfect God. We cannot attain perfection, and therefore, we are sinful creatures. God cannot tolerate sin in His presence. That means that we, because we are sinful creatures, cannot come into the presence of God. How can you have a relationship with someone if you can't be in their presence?

That is why the Bible says"the wages of sin is death," (Romans 6:23a) But God provided a means for us to come into His presence. "but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus, our Lord." (Romans 6:23b) That gift is provided by means of a sacrifice, an atonement for the justice that was required to rebalance the scales and allow us to be forgiven for our sins. That sacrifice was the death of God's Son on the cross. "For our sake, He made Him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in Him we might become the righteousness of God." (2 Corinthians 5:21)

So how can you receive this free gift of love from God? A person receives God's free gift of love and life by placing faith in Jesus Christ. To believe is simply to take God at His word. With our heart (whole believing) we believe that Jesus is God's Son who died for our sin on the cross and arose from the grave to live in us as Savior and Lord. "because if you confess with your lips that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For one believes with the heart and so is justified, and one confesses with the mouth and so is saved." (Romans 10:9-10)

God has provided the means by which we are to be saved. The gift is yours to accept or reject. "For 'Everyone who calls upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.'" (Romans 10:13) If you accept God's gift, freely given, then you will be saved into eternal life in Jesus Christ. But that is only the beginning. There is so much more that Jesus offers beyond our salvation. A life in Christ provides a peace and inner strength that comes from knowing God is in control.

Will you accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior right now?

If you want to give your heart to Jesus, you can do it with this simple prayer:

Jesus, I know I'm a sinner and I know I cannot save myself, but you can. I thank you, Lord, for paying the price for my sins, and I now turn from those sins and repent of them. I ask you, Jesus, to come and live in my heart and be my Lord and Savior. In the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit I pray. Amen.

If you have given your heart to Jesus Christ, the next step is a public confession of your faith, which can be accomplished by simply telling someone what you have done. We encourage you to find a church to attend, so that you may be baptised and instructed in the Christian life. You are most welcome to visit us at Cornatzer United Methodist Church. You have found the most wonderful relationship that you will ever have. You are a new creature in Christ. Congratulations!
